A Word From Our Coach, Gary Henderson
Dear Sir,
I have been working with Conrad for the past 6 months and have noticed a vast improvement in his game. As a former British international player myself, I appreciate the commitment required to become a top tennis player. Conrad is strong physically, mentally determined, and with his immense natural talent he has a bright future in the game.
In order for Conrad to achieve his goal of reaching a world ranking within the top 50, he requires experience on the professional circuit – travelling to places as obscure as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Northern Africa. In order to attain a world ranking within the top 100 a player must obtain 400 ranking points. The lower ranking events take a month to complete and offer 50 points for the winner. The next level of tournaments offer 50-100 points and only take a week to complete. The most important thing is the ability to choose the right tournaments on the right court surface in the early stages of a player’s career in order to rise quickly up the rankings. As you can imagine, there is a large travel cost. Many players, who have not had the correct advice or right backing have tried and failed. It is vital that Conrad does things right. His re-habilitator – Ian Horsley will give advice on his training programme, I will take care of his tournament scheduling and on court programme and his family will look after his dietary needs and travel arrangements. Conrad will take care of his equipment needs.
